IT’S A JAZZ AGE EXTRAVAGANZA!!

On this episode of The KC Arts Beat Report, Patrick Neas sits down with Devon Carney, Artistic Director of the Kansas City Ballet, for an inside look at The Great Gatsby, the company’s spectacular season finale. Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel, this production brings the Jazz Age roaring back to life with Charleston‑charged choreography by Septime Webre, dazzling Art Deco design, and a live seven‑piece jazz band in the pit. Carney discusses the ballet’s remarkable journey and introduces the extraordinary Kansas City artists joining the cast: narrator and vocalist Tanner Rose, powerhouse jazz singer Ebony Fondren, and tap legend Lonnie McFadden.
